We track job advertisements across Japan, from construction and facilities to operations and business. All employment types and traditional data centers are in scope. These are advertisement counts, not hires or a measure of labor shortages.

How to read these figures
First observed is not the posting date. A direct observation records retrieval of a job page and does not guarantee that applications are still open. Information without direct source confirmation remains unconfirmed. Failed collection or absence alone does not mean a job has closed.
Week-over-week comparisons use only source-confirmed advertisements in a fixed, recurring observation scope, with matching conditions across 14 completed days in two seven-day windows. Regional counts overlap for multi-location advertisements and cannot be added to the national count. AI-related labels require explicit evidence in job duties.
Salary figures use advertised hourly, monthly and annual amounts without conversion. Aggregate figures are withheld when fewer than five comparable records exist. Check the source for the original terms and current availability.
Job observation FAQ
Does this cover every job advertisement in Japan?
Japan nationwide is the geographic scope, but collection is limited to selected sources, search terms and retrieval bounds. This is not a census of all jobs in Japan. An absence of listings for a region or role does not establish that no jobs exist there.
Does observation coverage differ by source?
Yes. Indeed, Hatarako, Pasona, En Haken and Tempstaff cover up to three pages per configured search term. AWS, Equinix and Sakura Internet cover up to 30 job details from their selected careers listings. Completing these bounds does not mean that every advertisement on a source has been retrieved.
For Rikunabi Haken, candidates are discovered through nationwide searches with source URLs, followed by separate checks of individual job pages. The inherited four-prefecture search is not used for this nationwide observation. Search-discovered candidates and their individual follow-up checks are supplemental observations, excluded from daily counts and week-over-week comparisons for the fixed, recurring observation scope.
